From complex to simple: debt crisis for dummies

Debt crisis

When words such as “debt” and “deficit” come up, it is usually connoted with negative terms such as “bankruptcy,” “crisis,” and “excessive government spending.” But to understand the logistics of the debt crisis of an entire country (or continent!), it is important to first understand what “debt crisis” actually means. An amber light from forth the hearth illuminates the surrounding room, revealing garland wreaths and ribbons, while “It’s a Wonderful Life” plays on the television behind you. The windows are beginning to frost, reminding you of the icy world that lies outside, but you continue to stare through those glass panes, waiting for the first flurry of white that will create the winter wonderland for which you pray. Christmas time has returned. [more]
