Girls' basketball team determined to dominate
As the 2011–2012 Lady Aces take the court this season, they have a thirst that only success at the state level will quench. At this time last year, the team tipped off what was to become one of the best seasons in LM girls’ basketball history. [more]
Aces hockey looks to compete with "speed, crisp passes and defensive play"
LM Boys Ice Hockey has come hungry for victory this season. This marks the beginning of the 32nd year of LM Ice Hockey Club’s existence; impressively the LM Ice Hockey Club has grown from one varsity high school team to a seven-team club. With the 2011–2012 winter sports season underway, there is a lot of talk in regards to the boys’ and girls’ swim teams. Previously split up amongst four different teams—boys’ swimming, girls’ swimming, boys’ diving, and girls’ diving—the squads combined this year to encompass all aspects of aquatic competition. Wrestling weighs in

Scandal at Penn State: a lenient punishment for a despicable crime
In the wake of college football scandals, disaster has tarnished the reputation of yet another college, Penn State. Our backyard university, the institution that the people of Pennsylvania pride, has now fallen victim to reputations like those of USC, Miami, and Ohio State, where athletes were subject to exorbitant compensation. As of now, there are no signs indicating what effects this despicable crime will have on Penn State, as well as NCAA football as a whole. [more]
The winning tradition of LM athletics
What sets LM apart from other high schools is its rich athletic tradition. Throughout the years, many athletes have emerged from LM to the collegiate level, and the best ones have even become professionals. LM athletes are instilled with a determined, hard-working attitude during high school. This mindset is one of the many reasons why so many of them move on to the next level to compete. Aside from all of the great enthusiasm and excitement in their high school careers, the one thing that these athletes will probably remember the most is whether or not they were able to win a championship, and that is a pretty significant feat.
